Duwamish Tribe Enrollment
FAq - TRIBAL MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the Duwamish Tribe is currently based on descendancy only, not blood quantum. The Duwamish Tribe has over 700 enrolled tribal members. An application for membership can be obtained by emailing the Membership Department at membership@duwamishtribe.org.
Your application after submittal will be held in a pending file for adoption at the next year's annual meeting - held on the first Saturday of May. You MUST be present at the Duwamish Annual Meeting to have your membership formally approved by the entire body of the Tribe. The exception being that you submit a letter of hardship ie. lack of transportation, illness etc. to the Membership Department, at membership@duwamishtribe.org, at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the scheduled annual meeting.
**Living far away is not considered a hardship. Applicants are expected to appear in person before the community they wish to join. Please make arrangements to attend or wait until next year’s meeting. Additionally, all applicants are encouraged to submit a letter of intent expressing their reasons for seeking membership. We value individuals who demonstrate a genuine commitment to engaging in tribal affairs, participating in events, and supporting and preserving our culture.
