FAq - TRIBAL MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the Duwamish Tribe is based on descendancy only, not blood quantum. The Duwamish Tribe has over 700 enrolled tribal members. An application for membership can be obtained by emailing the Membership Department at membership@duwamishtribe.org.
Your application after submittal will be held in a pending file for adoption at the next year's annual meeting - held on the first Saturday of May. You MUST be present at the Duwamish Annual Meeting to have your membership formally approved by the entire body of the Tribe. The exception being that you submit a letter of hardship ie. lack of transportation, illness or great distance etc. to The Membership Department, at membership@duwamishtribe.org at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the scheduled annual meeting.
All applicants are encouraged to submit a letter of intent expressing their reasons for seeking membership. We value individuals who demonstrate a genuine commitment to engaging in tribal affairs, participating in events, and supporting and preserving our culture.
